Currently, we categorize goals typographically. For example, release goals are prefaced by the name of the release in the name of the goal. This is error-prone and cumbersome. It would be better to be able to create goal "buckets", and be able to tag those arbitrarily ("2015.1 Release Goals", "Quality Initiative Goals"). This would make managing those goals over time much easier and clarify when Product Owners should assign goals to an initiative, or a sub-release - instead of having to pull them out of one global bucket as they do now.
This is now possible with the introduction of custom fields for Goals.
