Allow existing release templates to be copied to make a new template. For example, copy a product line template to a product to customize that template. It is too difficult to do this manually, especially when you consider that each phase has a color, and ideally the same phases should have the same color across products. This is difficult to do when manually creating each phase for each "related" template.
Just let us copy or clone one..

Thank you for the idea!
You can now copy existing release templates to make a new template.
Also, you now have full control over the default template — edit the default template Aha! provides or set your own custom default that will be preselected for all users in your workspace.

I am versioning my release templates. And with every release we learn and improve. Right now I have every phase and todo in an excel spreadsheet and I have to manually cut and paste 113 separate items. If I could copy from v8 to v9 and modify the improvements... well it would be a lot quicker.
This is painful when you have several parent lines and work spaces and cannot clone or apply templates at parent lines.. Especially when you configured duration, color, and more...
This would be very helpful to have. The use case I have would be that I want to create a release template in a Sandbox workspace, demo it to business users and then once approved, move that into another workspace for use with our production product lines.
We are considering expanding our usage of Aha! across our business, having the ability to copy a release template from workspace to workspace would be really useful.
this would be hugely useful as creating it in a location everyone can see before the template is ready and agreed can lead to issues of it being applied by accident before it is approved
Really need this. II have 2 templates X 8 products. Copy and paste is tedious
Really need this. Our release phases template is complex. It has 8-10 phases per release and each release has 10-15 ToDos which really help our Release Process. We now need to create several other Release Templates and starting from scratch will take hours of work - we'd love to copy over the current templates with their phases and ToDo list and tweak them to create new templates (a few minutes work)
We just started using AHA and this would be very useful for us to get started. A lot of our products are very similar but need to be tailored, and it would be great if we could just copy an existing template and then make the small changes necessary.
This would be amazing. Across all Aha! templates...instead of having to manually create each one
We need this as well. Our release phases template is complex and has taken quite some time to build for the way we have chosen to use it. We have 2 other variants of it depending on deployment method for that solution/product/release. This means I have to replicate another couple of hors work teice more which I am not looking forward to having to do! You have the clone option elsewhere across the tool so I am not sure why it is so difficult to have this for the releases phases.
I have a fairly elaborate release template set up with many to-dos on several milestones and phases, but I need to duplicate it to create different releases based on different timeframes (a 1-sprint, a 2-sprint, and a 3-sprint release).
Fully agree. we really need this feature and urgently
Agree with previous comments, that this is highly important to avoid effort in duplication and maintenance.
Having ability to define multiple plans at the account level would work for us (we have 5 products). For others this may not be the optimal solution.
I've only been working with this software for 2 weeks and this is the biggest drawback to the tool. You really should up the priority on this idea. thanks.
For our organization, we have 20+ products across 4 product lines. Each of these products has standard release formats, ideal for templates. The setup and maintenance of release templates at this scale is untenable. For any level of standardization, this is a must have.
This is important for us. We've had to recreate template now multiple times, each with different phases & to-do & predefined descriptions/assignees etc. It's SO tedious to recreate them. You can copy Workflows - why not Templates?
Hi there. While we can see value in this update, due to other priorities this is not currently planned on our roadmap. We will continue to watch customer feedback on it though and consider it for the future.
Is there an update on this? This feature would be very helpful to have especially in a large organization with several product lines. Thanks!
It is very time consuming to have to create the template so many times. We have multiple templates that are very similar.
Any chance we can get this idea revisited? In addition to the above use case, sometimes we have to develop/test Release Templates with our PM community and associated stakeholders. What I would like to do is create a test Product/Product Line, then build and test the Release Template, then once approved, simply copy it to the right place in the hierarchy.
Today I can't do that, I have to build it in it's desired location, which is confusing for end users as the Template may not be complete or may not have been approved yet.
