Category filter list determined by user profile

Many of our customers use more than one of our products and we have 30+ products in our portfolio, so we have decided to create a single ideas portal.  Products are listed as categories, but is a bit overwhelming to our customers when they see the entire filter list.  Can we limit the number of categories shown based on data from their user profile?

 

Trying to not solution, but we'll be integrating with Salesforce and that will have account and contact information such as company name and what products they own.  Would be fantastic if that synced with their user profile.
