As a product manager I want to deny access to long-range planning/features to only some people (i.e. senior management)

Problem statement

I have two main groups of roadmap stakeholders: all staff (others might not share with all staff but rather some wide set of stakeholders) and sr. management.  I want to give all my staff visibility into the current year/next four quarters but I want to limit longer-range planning to just product management and senior management.  The current solutions/workarounds I have with Aha are okay, but not great.

Current solution options

  1. Create parallel products/product lines - For these longer range planning features and roadmaps we can create separate, duplicate products and grant access to that second product to sr. management and product managers only.  Depending on how different this work is, this may be the best solution (i.e. if your current year roadmap is based on releases and has lots of detail and your long-range roadmap is by quarter and has much less detail this could be appropriate to have them totally separate).  The downside to this approach is that if you do want a unified view and the feature planning and releases are similar for near-term and long range, there's additional work required to get unified views (reports) and management may get confused by having to jump between two different products (just doesn't feel expected to have a separate product for long-range planning).
  2. Deny access to all products and make near-term roadmaps available through reports in notebooks only - Depending on whether you want/need all your staff to see all the features and different self-serve views in Aha this could be a good or bad solution.  If you want to "package" the near term for your wider set of stakeholders, then reports in notebooks work great.  If, however, you do want folks to be able to self-service their views and explore a bit more, then this solution doesn't fit.

Thank you for the note. The couple solutions you mentioned are likely the best ways to handle the specific situation that you've described. At this time, based on current priorities and historical feedback in this area, we are unlikely to make updates in this area in the near term. We hope you can understand.

Lack of this capability is blocking us from consolidating all our Aha instances
