Additional notifications options

I'm not sure if this is what is meant in this ticket, but we are getting bombarded with messages because there is no way of subscribing to particular updates.

I imagine something similar to JIRA's notification schemes, where a user can subscribe to particular actions when their ticket is updated, rather than blanket messages covering all updates.

We are excited to introduce updated email notification preferences and digest emails. This was an extremely popular request and something we have been working hard to deliver. You now have complete control over what emails you receive and how frequently you receive them. Check out our blog post for more details.

I have a basic notifications request:

I don't want to get notifications for changes I've made.  It seems crazy that I get an email telling me that I've made a change - because I know - I just did it...!

I want to get notifications of changes that other people have made, but not for things I've done.

The use case we have is that we have a project manager who wants to keep track of new features being added to an initiative. As we move to our next phase-gate we normally "lock down" new feature requests so we want to be alerted if anyone tries to add a new feature to the initiative.  Having a daily or weekly notification with this update would be sufficient (as opposed to minutes after the update).

Right now, notifications are binary: one or off.  I consider mentions (@somebody) in a comment to be distinctly different from other notifications, such as a change of status.  Mentions should be treated more like email and should always be delivered regardless of notification settings.

We have the same exact requirement as well.  None of our Product line owners or senior management wants to get bombarded with notifications for every change. For example they want to get notified when a feature that's on track goes off track or schedule slips or gets moved to a different release.

I want to be able to notify interested parties of the state changes of a feature or idea.

My sales teams are not interested in all the SPAM the tool creates for every single minuscule change made in the management and administration of each record.

Please add some way to configure which fields can trigger an update. The Watchers feature is currently meaningless to my teams/company. However, I can't switch the notifications off because that will also switch off the "todo" emails which are useful!

I support this idea.  Notifications are useful, but currently you can receive a large number of them.  Within an individuals profile, it would be useful to be able to apply a filter to limit notifications to just those types the user wants to receive. (At present the options are simply Notifications on or off).
