We have lots of partners we want to track strategic alignment with. What they do, products they integrate with, contacts, markets we align on. etc.
This is possible through the use of Custom tables -- available in our Enterprise+ plans.
This allows you to customize Aha! in a way which matches how your teams work, and allows you to link that to your product data in Aha!
You can learn more about this capability here: https://www.aha.io/support/roadmaps/strategic-roadmaps/customizations/custom-tables
Based on the custom tables capability, we will mark this idea as "already exists." If you have questions about custom tables or the Enterprise+ plan, please reach out to our Customer success team at support @ aha.io
I would have to agree with others that function of the Competitors section should be extended. While the custom tables may seem appropriate, there's clearly a gap.
It would require simple changes:
- Generalize document from "Strategic Competitors" to "Strategic Intelligence" or base document title on selected profile type.
- Add a field for Profile Type - preferably user defined values.
- Modify the side bar to group by Profile Type
- Ideally add the option to add subcategory by one or more additional custom fields
For example:
Profile Types we may have: Partners, Competitors
Subcategory we may have: Active Partners, Partner Candidates, Direct Competitors, Indirect Competitors, etc.
As others have commented this is a logical addition since build, buy or partner is part of any strategic product plan. The key is to make it as simple as adding a competitor to the existing strategy category. The use of custom tables is not seamless or user friendly. I would categorize this as a gap.
+1
If there was the same view as "competitors" for the partners section, this would work really well. @aha team - please reconsider.
Thanks Ken, we might do that. I'd like to know if Aha has put any more thought into this? Build, Buy, or Partner is a key part of building a product strategy. We should be able to better track this without needing a custom solution or merging all companies in the same section (unless we get some filter options there).
While not the perfect solution, we attacked this problem by putting in our partners as competitors and added a custom field to differentiate between competitor, partner, or self (we added our-self as a competitor).
The other's feedback is spot on, this is a very disappointing response.
I am not sure, "pay extra and do it yourself" meets my definition of Already Exists.
I would categorize that as Will not implement, since you can do it yourself in a more expensive version of the app, but if that is AHA!'s definition, that is useful and rather disappointing to know.
Thank you for the idea, but that is not really what I am after. The Competitors includes a lot of information nicely laid out and then has the built in Matrix view to rank them by strategic alignment and current value.
If I just wanted a table I'd link to an excel spreadsheet for that.
