Requirements as First Class Object

It would be great to be able to create a set of requirements that are associated with a Product or Product Line.  These product (line) requirements could be referenced by features in a one to many relationship.  For Example, there may be a company wide requirement that states "All passwords must be encrypted when stored on disk."  This type of requirement may be applicable to several different features or products.  It's a little tedious to have to create that requirement over and over again.

Also, for some product definition lifecycles, the set of features may be partially derived from the overall set of requirements provided by customers or basic market research.

We recommend using Custom Tables to implement this type of requirement traceability.

You could create a custom table to represent the common requirements, then link those requirements to each feature they apply to. The benefit of custom tables is that you can store detailed information along with each requirement.

I have switched this idea back to "Likely to implement". Although we don't plan to support what you have asked for exactly, we have plans for a related feature which should provide an alternative way to get to the type of requirements management you are describing.
