Sorting Initiatives in pick-list alphabetically

When I try to "link a feature to an Initiative"; or when I try to "filter by initiative", the list of initiatives that is presented is in a seemingly random order, not alphabetical (see screen shots). How can we get these to display alphabetically? our list of initiatives is going to get long, and we are careful with naming conventions to group and categorize things easily. The random-order presentation really makes that difficult to use.
