Copy (replicate) a feature from one product to another, but automatically attach a new feature reference number to the copy. Merged

We have one 'original' copy of our software and a few slightly different versions of the same software for our customers.

These are our products.

We often need to copy the same feature that we implement for the original version across one or more of the other versions (products).

Therefore, we’ll often have feature A in the original version/product as well as in product 2 and product 3. However, in order to keep track of which features we have implemented in which product, we were hoping to use original feature reference codes.

For example, we use BB-1, BB-2, BB-3 etc. in our original product. We'd like to use US-1, US 2 (etc.) in another product and EU-1, EU-2 (etc.) in another product.
