Link Ideas Organizations to Custom Tables

The concept of proxy voting is super useful, but having to manage an organization in two places is not. We have a custom table for customers that is a shared value across the work types. It would be helpful to be able to use the custom table as the source for the "Organizations" in the Ideas Portal so internal users can select an organization vs enter and so we are not managing two sources of truth.

Thank you both for the additional information and detail! We will keep you up-to-date as we think about how to best solve this in Aha! and consider it for our roadmap.

Our Customers custom table features the following:

    • Customer name

    • Notes (for PMs to capture their interactions and have a historic record)

    • Tags

    • Account value

    • Account owner

    • Products they have

    • Sales engineer

    • Support lead

    • Primary customer contact

    • Primary contact email

    • Industry

    • Region

    • Sales theater

    • SFDC account ID

    • SFDC URL

I concur with the initial idea: proxy voting is great but Organizations is too limited/duplicative. We link customers to ideas, master features and features, allowing us to run reports on value, ideas status, etc.

If Organizations was as flexible in capturing data like the above, we'd likely deprecate our Customers table and transition to Organizations. Using customer name as the primary field for proxy would work too, although the Customers name field within our ideas and features forms don't seem to load as quickly as Organizations (even with the same data populated).

We have a suite of b2b SaaS products, so our customer organizations are known; understand that may be different in a b2c use case.

We are using several custom tables to facilitate many to many and one to many relationships across goals, initiatives, ideas, features. We have a customers table that includes customer name, the number of locations, the market segment, products used, contact info, and our assigned account rep. We also have a products table, account rep table, and a few others that enable us to report on any of the related data for analysis without having to export.

If we could drive the Ideas Organizations from the Customer Table primary field, we could then pass down the same organization to the feature and master feature when the idea is promoted without having to create another field or tag and populating it with the customer name.

Thank you for the feedback! We would love to know more.

Could you share a little about the type of information you currently have in the custom table?

And are there any reports or views of this information that you find particularly useful?
