Master Idea

In order to group ideas the same way you can group features, I find it would be useful to have master ideas.

We focus on solving market problems, they feed features (ideas that bring solutions to a market problem). When several features come together (for diverse reasons, strategic alignment, area of expertise, pricing, ...) they can be grouped under a master feature.

Why can we not do the same at the idea level?

Today, to solve this problem, we have added a custom field based on the master features, but it is not ideal: indeed, the link does not appear clearly in the master feature, and we have to do the description all over again, going through every idea to try to summarize the context in the master feature description, ...

    You are right, I use Tags already, they are very helpful but I am willing to go one step further.

    We will continue to monitor this idea for community feedback to help prioritize.

    Another option, which you may have already tried, is to use the Tag field on the idea. We use that to help group ideas, which you can then report on (using a filter for example). It is similar to your custom field process you use today, but just wanted to share!

    I am indeed looking for a solution to better group ideas in the ideas section.
    The link option is interesting, and was the first I tried, but I could not use these link for analytics purposes.

    I'm curious, you mentioned master idea and master feature, so I wanted to clarify your request so we can best support you.

    Are you looking to link your ideas to existing master features? If so, there are two ways to do this:

    1. Promote the idea to the master feature

    2. From the idea drawer, click on the [...] menu, select Link to another record, select master feature as your type, and then enter the ID of that master feature to create a record link

    Or are you looking for a way to better group ideas from within the idea section?
