Sequential numbering of Objectives and Key Results can only be chieved with a manually updated custom number field.

Manual numbering, error prone

We have a requirement in our OKRs to maintain a numbering scheme for an objective and the key results within an objective.

Example:

Timeframe – Q4/2025

Objective 1 – Reduce time taken to deploy a release.

Key result 1 – Time taken to build the patch reduced by 50%

Key result 2 – Approval process for release deployment reduced by 30%

Key result 3 – Build errors reduced by 10% from prior build

In this example we need to reference Objective 1, Key result 1; Objective 1, Key result 2 and so on. Currently we achieve this by asking the person who enters the OKRs to number them using a simple custom number field on Objective and Key Result.

Ideally, we would have a custom field that starts at 1 for each Objective within a Timeframe for the workspace and another custom field that starts at 1 for each Key Result within an Objective. If we delete a Key Result, its reference number would be available, same requirement if we delete an Objective.
