Manage a global list of ideas categories

What is the challenge?

We have two dedicated ideas workspaces, one for our external customers Ideas and one for our internal company / VIPs "Requests". These workspaces need to share the same category list, but we have to maintain those categories in each workspace.

Now, we would like to take advantage of the recently launched Ideas Board. However, Group by Category doesn't work properly, because Aha doesn't recognize the two category lists as being the same - it duplicates each category. (See screenshot.)

What is the impact?

It's more work to maintain our common category list, because we have to do it in multiple workspaces.

We can't view all our ideas (from both workspaces) grouped together by category.

Describe your idea

Manage ideas categories at the Account level, just like workflows and custom layouts. Add a Workspace configuration setting under Ideas to select the desired Ideas Category list (again, just like choosing what workflow or layout to use).

    Glad to see this idea here already. Having a similar issue.

    Adding this capability would allow administrators to define and apply standardised Idea Categories across multiple workspaces without manual entry in each.

    Proposed Features and Mechanisms:

    1. Centralised Definition Location (Account Level):

    Introduce a setting at the Account level (e.g., within User menu -> Settings -> Account -> Ideas) or Workspace Line level to manage a master list of Idea Categories.

    2. Category Templating/Inheritance (Workspace Line and Workspace Level):

    • Allow the master list of categories to be defined on a Workspace Line (e.g., at the portfolio level, aligning with how strategy and settings can be inherited).

    • Provide an option for child Workspaces to inherit Idea Categories from their parent Workspace Line, similar to how other settings like terminology, document templates, strategic models, release templates, progress calculations, or default views can be inherited.

    3. Bulk Application/Selection: Implement a feature (like 'apply to all' or 'tick box' functionality) to select multiple workspaces where the defined category list should apply, overcoming the current "per-workspace level" configuration constraint.
