Enhance voting/planning poker in whiteboards

What is the challenge?

Would like to see enhancements to voting / planning poker in whiteboards so they can be better used for strategic enterprise portfolio management exercise with executive leadership.

What is the impact?

Want to better engage with executive leadership during enterprise portfolio planning sessions. Whiteboards are great for making these sessions really interactive. Adding the following enhancements would allow for more detailed, thoughtful prioritization decision by leaders --They can see the financial or resource impacts of their decisions and work in a easy to adopt & collaborative way.

Describe your idea

Executive leadership would be provided with a limited number of votes. Each vote would be allocated with a unit (e.g., $ amount or # of hours) that they have to spend on priority work (features, epics etc).

Example: 10 initiatives are be presented to leadership. Each vote is worth $10K of budget. They can se their votes to spend the dollars across the initiative. All 10 votes ($100,000) could go on 1 initiative or they could split the spend across the initiatives.

After the session you can see a report summarizing the results of the session -- who spent what on which records. This approach helps show what are the strategic priorities for leadership before moving into detailed planning. It also limits how much weight they can apply to a decision so that they need to be more thoughtful.
