Add Passing URL parameter's ability to generated Dashboard Webpages

What is the challenge?

Currently Aha allows for you to generate a static webpage for your custom dashboard you built. If your dashboard has filters on it, when its generated it will display combo boxes on the web page that a user can select to filter the report. What if your filter criteria is a big list of departments (say over 100+) and instead having the user scroll through this large list to select their department, could there be more efficient way to filter the data to save the user time and improve the user experience.

What is the impact?

This idea would impact all users. But I believe only owners and contributors have the ability to build and generate dashboards so this functionality would be built around their roles and permissions.

Describe your idea

I had opened a support ticket and Aha Support has told me this functionality does not exist encouraging me to create this idea.

Our idea is we would like the generated web page to support passing URL Parameters in so we can filter the dashboard dynamically. Many vendor apps support this functionality, and it would be great if aha allows this.

So, in a nutshell we could create a URL and pass the filter parameters dynamically and then dashboard would display to the customer the specific filter dashboard without needing to manually select anything.

Here is 2 URL Examples:

1) Passing two parameters in: one to filter the department, 2nd parameter to filter documents:

https://app.aha.io/your-dashboard?user-story-tag=Department1@document-tag=Department1

Passing one parameter in: to filter dashboard to show Department 2 user stories

https:// app.aha.io/your-dashboard?user-story-tag=Department2

    Other benefits of this idea:

    • If passing filter parameters through the URL is available this would allow everyone to create a single customer dashboard webpage that can be used for multiple purpose / customers. You then would simply pass the criteria through the URL to filter to the specific criteria.

    • Therefore, this would reduce your workload by allowing you not to have to generate duplicate dashboard webpages for different filtered criteria

    • Thus, reducing the number of dashboards, you and your team would need to support in the long run
