What is the challenge? |
Administrators and other users are unable to copy the link generated by the Power BI export even if the report is shared with them because the menu option is greyed out. From the administrative settings for reports shared via Power BI, there is no option to either copy the Power BI link or access the Power BI settings without stopping sharing altogether. |
What is the impact? |
When a list report is exported to Power BI for another user, the option to access the configuration tool for the Power BI sharing is greyed out for other users, including administrators. From Settings > Account > Shared Reports and Documents > Power BI - the only option you have is to stop sharing which can cause impact to the people actually using the reports. |
Describe your idea |
Administrators should have access to edit Power BI export settings for any report that has Power BI configured, regardless of whether or not that report is shared with them. Users who have the report shared with them and view access should have the ability to open the settings and copy the existing URL but should not have the ability to generate a new URL or disable to the sharing. Users who have edit access to the report should be able to control all options within the Power BI settings.
