Do not automatically create record links when records are mentioned

What is the challenge?

  • Users capture important details about an epic or feature in the description of the record, which is a note-type field. In some cases, the user needs to mention another record and does so using the "#" mention.

  • Today, the mentioned record is automatically added as a linked record with a "Relates to" relationship: https://support.aha.io/aha-knowledge/support-articles/collaboration/mentions~7400459162357690672

  • This causes confusion because users did not actually create those record links and it many cases the link is not meaningful or helpful.

  • In most cases, we simply want to mention a record, but do NOT want to create a database relationship between the records that will now appear in our dependency reporting, etc.

What is the impact?

Records are bloated with "Relates to" relationships that are not useful or meaningful. The relationships that are created automatically cannot be distinguished from those that are created manually.

Describe your idea

Consider not automatically creating a "Relates to" relationship OR offering an option to configure this setting.
