Goal start and end dates calculated from multiple initiatives

What is the challenge?

When a goal has multiple initiatives, it isn't possible to have its start date taken from the start date of the earliest initiative and its end date taken from the end date of the latest initiative when showing it on a custom roadmap.

What is the impact?

Without also adding initiatives themselves to a roadmap, it isn't possible to view goals with the timespan of their initiatives.

Describe your idea

Enable goals to calculate its timespan as the start date of the earliest-starting initiative until the end date of the latest-ending initiative.

My use case revolves around providing a "clean" Gantt style view of Goals, with a single line representing the timescale for a Goal.

Goals decompose into more than one Initiative so the start an end of the Goal needs to align with it's child Initiatives. We have many products (workspaces) in our portfolio and require a single view/report of all Goals, without the Initiatives making the view quite "busy"...that is another useful view but not for all stakeholders all of the time.

The Objective is much like the rolled up line on a Gantt chart. If for example the timescale for a rolled up Release on the "Releases, phases, and features Gantt" does not mirror the items it contains then reporting on the start and end dates for a Release could be incorrect.

    Thanks.
