Thanks for sharing this feedback! We just released an update so that you can hit undo (ctrl+z) after pasting a link, and it will return to a text-based link instead of the embedded preview. Another way to get that text link directly is to use the Link option in the + menu of the toolbar, or select some existing text and paste the link destination.
In the future, we also plan to surface an option to choose whether to display a link as text or the embedded preview.
