Improve Report Scalability

I have a set of reports which all share the same columns and filters. The only difference in the reports is the content of the filters.

I would like to be able to define a single report template that has the columns and filters defined. Then I would like to be able to define different instances of the report where the columns and filters are inherited from the template but the filter contents can be different.

The main goal of the template is that if I have to add a new column, I can do that once in the template and see it reflected in all the reports that I built based on the template.

Right now, if I have 10 separate reports, each one needs to be updated when I need to make a global change.

Implementing some sort of report template would make the management of large numbers of reports much easier.
