As a user of the Team Capacity Planning feature set, I would like to enter decimal values in the Total People field for each Team, so that the true capacity for each team (e.g. 1.5 FTE) is precisely accounted in capacity assessments.
Fractional team capacity is fairly commonplace, and can occur for multiple reasons (e.g. resources shared across multiple teams, individuals people with specialized skills who have responsibility across different teams, etc).
Today, this field only allows integer values. This limitation presents an issue with the accuracy of capacity plans, due to the impact of rounding to the nearest whole number. Particularly with smaller teams, the impact of rounding can be material as a percentage of the true capacity of a team.
I’ve attached a snippet to help contextualize how the issue adversely affects small teams. In the far right column of the table in the snippet, you will see that the sample three teams have a 12%, 25%, and 33% rounding impact respectively, which prevents them from being able to accurately perform capacity planning in Aha.
While it is possible to achieved the desired level of precision by using a different scenario configuration with estimate units of "hours" or "cost", this adds significant levels of complexity when estimating the level of effort of individual features/initiatives.
By enabling the Total People field at the Team level to accept decimal values, as opposed to the current integer only approach, Aha users will be able to perform precise capacity planning in Aha, without sacrificing the simplicity and approachability of a people-based Team Capacity Planning approach.
We have some teams in our organization that have half a person dedicated to either team. We would like to be able to track this via teams in Aha! using the "Enter Manually" feature.
Really needed feature!!
