Add a Description tab to the first screen of the new record format
The description at the top of the record under the Created by... text really doesn't make sense in your new tabbed format. Should be right there in the tab lineup.

Thanks for sharing this idea. This might not be exactly what you're asking for, but I wanted to make sure you knew that you can make the "Description" field it's own tab.
To do this select a record:
Click ... > Edit custom layout
Drag the description field down to its own tab
Click "Save"
